The ship is open for tours Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last to the ur boarding at 4:30 p.m. A self-guided audio tour is available for $4 per person; guided tours are also available for $10 per person (children under 6 are free).
The USS Alabama has several interactive exhibits including an air control tower where you can simulate flying a plane, an anti-aircraft gun simulator where you can fire at targets on land or sea, and even an 18-inch gun turret where visitors can see how much weight one man could lift while working inside the turret during the battle time!
McWane Science Center
McWane Science Center is a great place to visit, especially if you’re looking for something educational. It’s located in Birmingham, Alabama, and has many exhibits and activities for kids and adults alike. The museum is open every day of the year except Christmas Day. In addition to its exhibits, there are several educational programs at McWane Science Center that have been designed to engage visitors of all ages in science learning experiences through hands-on activities that encourage critical thinking skills and scientific literacy.
If you’re interested in learning more about space and the universe outside our planet, then you should check out their planetarium show “Stars Over Birmingham.” You can also see it live on some Friday nights during the summer months when they host star parties outside with telescopes set up throughout the museum grounds so people can look up at the night sky (weather permitting). The Vulcan statue is the largest cast iron statue in the world. It was built in 1904 and has been restored several times since then. The park also has a museum that can be found near Vulcan’s shoulder!
If you are looking to do something outdoorsy while visiting Alabama, then this is the place for you. It’s one of my favorite places that I have visited so far on this trip. It’s an amazing park with plenty of hiking trails and other fun things to do!
Little River Canyon National Preserve & Falls
Little River Canyon National Preserve is a U.S. National Preserve located in northeast Alabama, United States, along the Little River. The canyon was formed by the Little River, which cuts through Cambrian and Ordovician limestone rock strata over geologic periods of about 200 million years beginning about 450 million years ago (Late Ordovician Period). The last major Mississippian period glaciation stopped its formation around 20,000 years ago at this location. It was designated as a National Natural Landmark in October 1961 for its well-preserved geological features, scenic beauty, and recreational opportunities such as hiking and canoeing on the river below the canyon rim.
Ave Maria Grotto
